We decided to spend our 3rd wedding anniversary in Charleston, SC, a beautiful city by the sea which is known for its historic downtown. Built on a peninsula with limited space, the houses are tall and narrow with shared courtyards. We arrived in the city fairly early in the morning and spent several hours wandering the cobblestone streets between fantastical trees and colorful houses.
After lunch, we drove the around old village { Mt. Pleasant, SC } to look at the grand houses before heading to Isle of Palms { the beach}. After a ridiculously long hunt for a parking spot, we finally made it to the Atlantic, and spent the afternoon walking, reading, lounging, and burning...

STORMIN' ACROSS AMERICA
On a morning in late April, we rolled from our air mattress beds {we don't miss those} and folded ourselves into our car, along with all the worldly possessions we were taking with us to Asheville, North Carolina.
Our adventure began with a detour across Utah; southwest, instead of southeast. But, the unplanned road often holds the best unexpected things. We passed along a Utahn desert { near Canyonlands National Park }, where the stone had been rain sculpted into a giant's playground, smooth and enormous.
